An important point to note is that Liquid floodback is one of the leading causes of compressor failure. Liquid floodback is determined as "Liquid refrigerant returning to the compressor when it is running".
A large proportion of the compressors we recondition are the result of liquid floodback and liquid slugging, the compressors are reconditioned back to new, however if the problem which caused your initial compressor failure still exists, you will experience compressor failure again.
These sites provide some useful information on the web in diagnosing your system problems and making sure they are fixed.
